TRANSFORM YOUR SKIN THIS FALL WITH THESE 9 TIPS

Fall weather has a different effect on skin than summer. Cooler temperatures and less humidity can lead to dryness, dullness, and irritation. Plus, you are more likely to soak in a hot bath or stay indoors under central heating throughout the autumn and winter months. These seasonal habits all play into the look and feel of your body's largest organ. Help your skin thrive during the fall season with these 9 smart skincare solutions.

1. MOISTURIZE WELL

As the body’s first line of defense against the environment, your skin needs adequate hydration. If it's not moist, it’s natural protective barrier weakens. Boost your skin’s ability to protect by moisturizing well after cleansing, or as needed. One great way to lock in moisture is by applying moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp. Apply PLANTED IN BEAUTY’s Nourish + Protect Antioxidant Moisturizer, which features hydrating ingredients like acai berry and avocado for soft, supple skin.

2. EXFOLIATE (LIGHTLY)

Exfoliation during the autumn months helps to repair and brighten skin by removing dead skin cells and revealing the new cells underneath. Regular exfoliation also gets rid of dullness and supports moisturization. As a result, you'll have a smooth, flawless surface to apply hydrating skincare products. Our Polish + Resurface Detox Exfoliant gets the job done with all non-toxic, organic ingredients. Just be sure not to overdo it, as skin can be naturally drier and more sensitive in the cooler seasons. A happy medium for exfoliation is approximately two to three times per week.

3. HYDRATE FROM WITHIN

Boost hydration and your skin’s natural glow by drinking enough water each day. H20 is essential to supporting the body’s connective tissues. Plus, it even helps flush out toxins that can lead to skin problems. Consume at least half your bodyweight in ounces on a daily basis for visibly healthier skin.

4. EAT SEASONAL FRUITS AND VEGGIES

Your skin needs an abundance of nutrients to look its best. Get your share of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from seasonal produce. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are at peak freshness, which means they’ll have more of the good stuff than off-season choices. Apples, Brussels sprouts, cranberries, pomegranates, squash and sweet potatoes are all nutrient-packed fall foods that benefit skin.

5. BE GENTLE ON THE UNDEREYES

The skin beneath your eyes is the most delicate of all. Not to mention the harsh summer temperatures can take a toll on this fragile area. To gently lift and hydrate your undereyes, we recommend Depuff + Illuminate Eye Firming Complex. Try patting in eye cream with your ring finger to carefully handle this delicate skin.

6. CONTINUE APPLYING SPF

A drop in temperatures doesn’t let you off the must-apply-sunscreen hook. The cooler months still put you at risk of skin damage from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. We subscribe to year-round UV protection, which means rubbing on SPF and wearing sunglasses and hats every single day that you’re exposed to the sun. Also, avoid peak sunlight hours whenever you can.

7. TAKE SKIN-LOVING SUPPLEMENTS

Support the vitality of your skin from the inside out by starting a supplement regimen. This ensures that your skin receives all the crucial vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals it needs to thrive. We suggest Inside Out Skin Wellness supplements, which are packed with skin essential vitamins, minerals, plant-based antioxidants, ceramides, omega fatty acids and certified organic botanical ingredients. This potent blend is designed to protect, purify, renew, and strengthen your skin to promote a firm, smooth, and luminous complexion.

8. CLEANSE WITH LUKEWARM WATER

Hot, steamy showers can be relaxing after a tough day, but such extreme temperatures are drying to skin. Lower the temp during your showers, baths, and face washing routines. This prevents the natural moisture in your skin from being stripped. Remember, when your skin is properly moisturized, it’s protective barrier is stronger.

9. IMPLEMENT A SELF-CARE ROUTINE

Lifestyle factors such as work stress and sleep deprivation can cause skin problems. So, start fall off with a plan to keep stress and anxiety at bay. Sleep at least 7 to 9 hours each night, exercise for 30 minutes on most days of the week, and make time for nurturing activities. Examples may include spending time with friends and family, writing in a journal, or taking a walk in nature. When you keep stress under control, you can help limit premature skin aging.
